Why Me ???

One of the very challenging thing during the treatment of patients of type 1 diabetes is to bring the patients and their caregiver out of the emotional trauma that they suffer..."Why did it happen to me?"

It is my personal experience that even after learning and doing everything well for a long time, during the counseling sessions, they often says that they did not understand why it happened to my child (although they also know the answer). This question also makes me a little sad sometimes because I also do not have any correct or i must say satisfactory answer of this (as per their expectations).

Although the worries and difficulties regarding the treatment are same for all children but somehow (I maybe wrong) I feel that some parents are more worried about the female child, though with passing time they understand that it has nothing to do with male or female.

I feel in initial days of the diagnosis, lots of "ifs and buts" are there in parent’s mind regarding prolong treatment of type 1 diabetes and such kind of uncertain thoughts, emotional trauma does creates a lots of confusion and make them reluctant which may derailed from the right path,.although we cannot say this for every patient but everyone feel a emotional rush (I can also feel that).

I must say that Type one children are just like warriors and we all should give them continuous support and provide suitable situations to make them strong.

A good empathetic bond between newly diagnosed kids along his/ her patents with a professional’s team can be a good start for this rollercoaster journey of type 1 diabetes management.
